Nominaton Process for the Minor League Football Hall of Fame
Nomination Process
Minor League Football nominations are received at the Minor League Football Offices at any time. However, the deadline for posting nominations for the current year has been established as June 30 for consideration of a nominee for current year induction. Those nominations received at the Minor League Football Offices after that date will be considered for the following year. Please note, an individual may be selected in only one category.
Hall of Fame Candidates nominated and not elected to the Hall of Fame will be considered for a second time if additional information is provided. If not elected in a two year period, the candidate cannot be considered for one year, at which time new nominating forms and all supporting data must then be resubmitted. A candidate may only be considered a total of four times. If a nomination is denied or tabled and then resubmitted at a later date, the current year’s requirements and criteria will apply rather than those from the year of the initial nomination.
General Guidelines:
1. No individual may nominate his or her self. 2. A nominee may be deceased; however, deceased nominees must have passed away at least two years prior to the nomination. 3. All packets must be either mailed to the National Office and marked “MLF Hall of Fame” or sent via fax. 4. A member of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee may contact the teams the nominee has been affiliated with including coaches, general managers or other affiliates of the team in order to obtain further support material if the packet is not complete. Otherwise, the packet will be tabled until the submission packet is made complete by the person making the nomination. 5. When it has been determined the nomination packet is fully complete, it will be compiled with all other nominee packets and presented to the Selection Committee for consideration. A “ballot” will then be compiled from the list of nominees whose packets have been completed and submitted. 6. The Hall of Fame ballot is reviewed by the Minor League Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee, as well as the Awards Committee of which a quorum of six (6) must be in attendance to conduct business. 7. The Hall of Fame President and Chairman of the Board, and Executive Director, will notify those nominees elected to the Minor League Football Hall of Fame. Notification will include the date and place of the presentation of the Minor League Football Hall of Fame Award. 8. If elected by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, the nominee is considered a member of the Hall of Fame from the date the honor is presented at the Annual Minor League Football Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and not from the date of election.
